Founded in 2025 by two visionary Latina leaders, this organization is dedicated to building spaces where Hispanic women can develop confidence, grow their businesses, and lead with purpose.

Viviana Kaffury
Co-Founder & Executive Director

Viviana Kaffury is a marketing strategist, digital entrepreneur, and community builder with over 10 years of experience championing Latino business visibility. As CEO of Kaffury Designs and Director of Kaffury Latin Magazine, she’s spent her career spotlighting Hispanic entrepreneurs, creators, and changemakers. Viviana co-founded Hispanic Women in Action to bring Latina women into spaces of growth and opportunity. Her leadership blends creativity and strategy with heartfelt service. Whether it’s creating campaigns that inspire or events that transform, Viviana ensures every woman is seen, valued, and supported.

Verónica Bazán
Co-Founder & Executive Director

Verónica Bazán is a dynamic force in business and community development. With a longstanding commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, Verónica has helped countless small business owners navigate the path to success. Her work centers on empowerment through access — connecting Latina women to resources, mentorship, and networks that fuel personal and professional growth. As the operational co-founder of Hispanic Women in Action, Verónica infuses every initiative with heart, clarity, and vision. She is known for her authentic leadership style — one that listens first and builds lasting support systems. Her dedication makes her one of the most recognized voices for Hispanic women’s empowerment in the region.

Iris Cohello
Board Member

Iris Cohello is a Purpose and Entrepreneurship Coach, podcaster, founder of Empoderadas en Acción LLC, and a trusted advisor to small businesses. With academic backgrounds in Tourism and Hospitality as well as Industrial Engineering, she also holds certifications in both purpose-driven coaching and small business mentorship. She leads workshops on technology and productivity for entrepreneurs, equipping business owners with practical tools to grow and thrive. Iris is passionate about empowering Latina women by helping them discover their purpose and turn it into a business through coaching, online courses, and her inspirational podcast. Her holistic approach integrates personal development, digital tools, and business strategy to guide women on a transformational journey toward living fully in their purpose and potential.

Jessica Mejías
Board Member

Jessica Mejías is a renowned Latina entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience as co-founder and manager of Los Andes Bakery, a celebrated Chilean bakery chain serving the tri-state area. She has been a pioneer in introducing Chilean culinary culture to New York and is deeply committed to her community through the organization of cultural festivals, the promotion of local economic development, and her active involvement in institutions such as the Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Tarrytown. A resilient and visionary leader, Jessica has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times and Westchester Magazine, and recognized by organizations such as WHCC and Kaffury Latin Magazine for her powerful impact on the Hispanic community and her contributions to the growth of Latino-owned businesses.

Verónica Colman
Board Member

With enthusiasm for fostering diversity and empowerment in entrepreneurship, Veronica brings extensive experience in supporting project management to Community Capital New York. With 16 years of experience in various roles in corporate retail, she developed strong skills in the planning and execution of administrative and financial projects, along with concept development, marketing, and budget management. Veronica is a committed leader in expanding access to resources for entrepreneurs, especially women and minorities. As Vice President of Business Advancement at Community Capital New York, she drives strategic partnerships with chambers of commerce, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to strengthen communities and support small businesses. As the leader of the organization's Technical Assistance branch, she has developed financial education workshops and workflows that guide entrepreneurs both before and after receiving a loan. Additionally, her current experience at Intuit, working directly with small businesses through QuickBooks, reinforces her commitment to financial education as a key tool for economic development. For all these reasons, Veronica loves and takes pride in being part of Latinas en Acción, an organization that reflects her values and passion for empowering women, promoting self-care, and creating spaces where we can grow together.

Their vision for Hispanic Women in Action is bold, inclusive, and grounded in real-life experience. As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, their mission is rooted in service — not profit — and driven by the belief that every Latina deserves access to tools, support, and opportunity.
